Welcome · Bienvenidos

All who seek mercy and peace.

As a community of God’s people, we extend our arms to all who seek mercy and peace, love in the name of Jesus, and hope for those in need.

God loves us all — regardless of ethnic roots, color, gender, or politics. We welcome anyone who would walk this way of life with us. Our parish gathers five communities into one family: French-Creole, English-speaking, Spanish-speaking, the Deaf community, and the Neocatechumenal Way.

Our story

From St. Vincent de Paul to Blessed Seelos.

Founded in 1838 as the third parish of New Orleans, our church served the Creole faubourgs of the Third Municipal District. The present brick church rose in 1866. After a devastating fire on May 25, 2003, the parish family rebuilt — sanctuary, altar, and barrel-vault ceiling — and the church was rededicated in 2006 in the name of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, C.Ss.R., the Redemptorist who came to New Orleans in 1866 to minister to victims of yellow fever.

Today, five communities worship as one parish family: St. Vincent de Paul, Sts. Peter and Paul, St. Gerard Majella for the Deaf, Annunciation, and St. Cecilia.
