Liturgical ministries

Members serve at the Mass and care for the sanctuary.

Altar Society

Cares for the altar, vestments, and sanctuary linens, ensuring the church is prepared for the Mass.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Assist the priest at Mass and bring Communion to the homebound, the sick, and the imprisoned.

Music Ministry

Choirs and cantors lead the assembly in song at our English, Spanish, and ASL Masses.

Lectors

Proclaim the Word of God at Mass.

Ushers

Welcome those entering, assist with the collection, and help maintain a reverent atmosphere.

Formational ministries

Legion of Mary

An apostolic association devoted to Marian spirituality and active works of charity.

Youth and Young Adult Ministry

For teens and twenty- and thirty-somethings: faith formation, fellowship, service, and discipleship.

Parish School of Religion (PSR)

Catechesis for children preparing for First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

Summer faith-and-fun program for children of the parish and neighborhood.

Knights of Peter Claver

The largest historically African-American Catholic lay organization, dedicated to faith, charity, and brotherhood.

Open Arms Caring Ministry

Pro-Life Seelos Ministry of Hope

Witnesses to the dignity of every human life through prayer, education, and accompaniment.

Home Visitation & Communion Ministry

Communities within our parish

Five communities live as one parish family.

St. Gerard Community for the Deaf

The first Deaf parish in the world — founded in the 1970s and incorporated into Blessed Seelos Parish in 2001. Today, it remains the base of the Apostolate for the Deaf for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Our 9:30 AM Sunday Mass is offered in English with American Sign Language.

Neocatecumenal Way

An itinerary of Catholic formation for adults: gathering for the Word, the Eucharist, and the convivence of faith.

E.L.I.

Escuela de Liderazgo Internacional — a community formation initiative within the parish.

Spanish-speaking community

Misa en Español los domingos a las 11:30 AM y los jueves a las 6:00 PM (Jueves Eucarístico y Divina Misericordia).

English-speaking community

Vigil Mass on Saturday at 4:00 PM, Sunday at 9:30 AM (with ASL), and daily Masses Tuesday–Friday at 8:00 AM.
